Caroline Bomfim

Caroline Bomfim is an environmental researcher with PhD in Human Geography and an MsC and BSc in Environmental Engineering from Brazil.

Dr. Bomfim’s research interests include climate change, climate justice, and how local actions can contribute to global climate change (think globally, act locally). Her research is focused on insights to promote sustainable, equitable futures through inclusive and culturally conscious climate strategies.

Currently a Mitacs Elevate postdoctoral fellow within the University of Alberta and the City of Edmonton, Dr. Bomfim's research focuses on embedding climate action into municipal operations by fostering a culture where every decision is viewed through a climate-conscious lens. Her approach emphasizes participatory research and climate communication strategies, cultivating climate education, strengthening collaborative networks, and embedding new relational practices among City employees.
