Tracey Harris
Associate Professor, L’nu, Political, and Social Studies, Cape Breton University
Tracey Harris is an Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of L’nu, Political, and Social Studies at Cape Breton University.
She is the author of several recent publications, including the co-authored book Food in a Just World: Compassionate Eating in a Time of Climate Change (2024, Polity Books) and The Tiny House Movement: Challenging Our Consumer Culture (2018, Lexington Books). She researches a variety of topics including alternative housing, building resilient and compassionate communities, and critical reflections on our relationship with other animals. She teaches a wide range of courses, including Animals & People, Environmental Sociology, Qualitative Research Design, and Urban and Rural Community.
Tracey is committed to finding novel ways to share research findings, such as through fiction, public presentations, and non-academic/“popular” formats such as online news outlets. She is a founding member of the Animal Ethics Project.
